Hotnu Bread Making:
Learn how to bake bread fresh from an open wood fired oven. There is a great practice of making freshly baked bread with a traditional Hotnu oven. With recipes and techniques that date back to the 1920s & 1930s, Tony Mantanona, our cultural practitioner, who began baking with his mother as a child, said the bread tastes “even better” baked this way.
Making wood-fired bread is a sure fire way to bring family, friends, and members of the community together around the warmth of a great tradition that yields some of the most delicious and freshest bread possible. The best part of learning a lifelong skill, might just be the immediate satisfaction of being able to take home a fresh slice of delicious bread.
